According to Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is seen over North Central Maharashtra.A trough is extending from Madhya Pradesh through Madhya Maharashtra to southern coastal Karnataka.

A cyclonic circulation is seen over Southeast Rajasthan and adjoining areas, while another system is over East Bangladesh.

During the next 24 hours, light rains are likely over East Madhya Pradesh and parts of Chhattisgarh. Partial clouds may be seen over the cities of adjoining states of Jharkhand, south-western Bihar and south-eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Cold wave conditions will prevail in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Kutch regions of Gujarat.

Cold day conditions are expected to remain for 24 to 48 hours in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. There is also a possibility of frost in northwest India and Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours.

An active Western Disturbance will occur over Jammu and Kashmir on the Western Himalayas by February 1, only after that, the minimum temperature rise in Northwest and Central India and relief from cold wave can be expected.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted another spell of snowfall in Kashmir in the first week of February. Since December, the Valley has witnessed back to back snowfall and the entire Kashmir division was gripped in a cold wave with sub-zero temperatures freezing water bodies and portions of the Dal Lake. IMD officials, however, said the fresh Western Disturbance would be feeble and there was no prediction for heavy snowfall.

The night temperature in Srinagar had plunged to minus 7.7 degree Celsius, while the winter capital of Jammu recorded a night temperature of 7.4 degree C. Tourist and ski resort of Gulmarg witnessed minus 11.5 degree Celsius, while the minimum temperature in Pahalgam was recorded at minus 12 degree Celsius, according to IMD.

Regional meteorological department said that the weather will improve by the end of this month when Chillai Kalan – the harshest 40- day period of Kashmir winter – ends on a dry note. This year the harshest winter period witnessed two to three spells of snowfall, including the one on January 9, when four to five feet of snow was deposited in Kashmir, leading to the suspension of air and surface connectivity with the rest of the country.

5-Day Nationwide Weather Forecast

According to Weather.com, light rainfall accompanied by lightning is likely over Eastern India and adjoining Central India on Friday, whereas light rain or snow is on the cards for Northeast India on Friday and Saturday. Further, light rains with lightning have been forecast over Tamil Nadu from Friday onwards, and isolated to scattered rains are expected over Andaman & Nicobar Islands in this forecast period. The rest of the country will experience dry weather.

A fresh western disturbance is likely to bring light snow or rain over Northern India from Sunday onwards.

Low-temperature conditions are likely over Northern, Central, Northwestern, and Northeastern India in this period, although the low-temperature tendency over the former three is expected from Sunday onwards.

Maximum temperatures will be 2-4°C below average over North-Central and Northeast India for the next five days, and over Northern and Northwest India on Friday and Saturday. As for the other regions, the maximum temperatures will remain near-normal in this period.

As for the minimum temperatures, they will be below average over Central and Northeast India in this period, and over Northern and Northwest India on Friday and Saturday. They will also be higher over Southeastern India on Friday, while slightly higher over Southern, Southwestern and Northeastern India in this period.

Along with the wet and cold weather, dense fog is also likely over the plain areas of Northern India, North-Central India, and Northeast India for the next 2-3 days. Dense to very dense fog has been predicted over Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Sikkim on Friday.

Scattered rain/snow and thunderstorms are likely over Arunachal Pradesh, while just scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over Andaman & Nicobar Islands.Isolated rainfall is possible over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Tamil Nadu.

Dense fog is likely to engulf isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tripura and Odisha.

Cold day conditions have been forecast over isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Cold wave conditions have been predicted over some pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and East Rajasthan, and over isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and West Rajasthan.
