India daily weather forecast latest, March 23: Rain continues across Punjab, Haryana leading to a dip in temperature
According to Skymet Weather, An induced cyclonic circulation is over Central Pakistan and adjoining parts of west Rajasthan. A western disturbance is over north Afghanistan and adjoining areas.
A trough in lower levels is extending from the Karnataka coast to the cyclonic circulation over North Madhya Maharashtra. A cyclonic circulation is over the south coast of Tamil Nadu. A cyclonic circulation is over Assam and adjoining areas.
During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain and thundershower activities with one or two intense spells occurred over Vidarbha, Marathwada and parts of adjoining south Madhya Pradesh.
Light rain and thundershower occurred over the rest of Madhya Pradesh, parts of Chhattisgarh, isolated pockets of Odisha, Jharkhand and East Bihar. Scattered light rains occurred over Kerala, Sikkim, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh.
During the next 24 hours, rain and snowfall activities will commence over Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Few moderate to heavy spells are possible over these states. Isolated hailstorm activities are also expected.
There will be widespread rain and snowfall over Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh.
Uttarakhand may receive isolated light rain activities but gradually this will increase. The intensity of rain and snow will increase between March 22nd and 24.

Isolated light rain and thunderstorm activities are possible over Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana as well as isolated pockets of Delhi NCR. Intensity and spread will increase over the above-mentioned states on March 22nd.
Isolated to scattered rain may occur over Vidarbha, Marathwada, south and East Madhya Pradesh, isolated pockets of East Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Jharkhand.
Light rain is possible over sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. A fresh western disturbance brought light rain across Punjab and Haryana early on Monday, leading to a dip in the temperature, Hindustan Times reported.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Chandigarh, the rain will continue in spells till Tuesday and dry weather can be expected from Wednesday.
Gusty winds of over 40km an hour along with rainfall up to 20mm are forecast, the IMD said, adding that there are chances of hail at isolated parts in the region. In Chandigarh, 1.8mm of rainfall was recorded since Sunday night till 8.30am on Monday.
The maximum temperature, which was above average for most places in the two states for the past few days, fell after the rain in the region.
5-Day Nationwide Forecast
According to Weather.com, the ongoing western disturbance is expected to increase both in coverage and intensity of snow or rain and thunderstorms over the Western Himalayan Region before clearing up early on Thursday. Moreover, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), an induced cyclonic circulation is also present over northwest Rajasthan and neighbourhood at lower levels.

Both of these systems are likely to intensify further and slowly move eastwards during the next two days. Under these conditions, the moisture incursion is likely to increase over northwestern plains and adjoining Western Himalayan Region. Along with this, the establishment and strengthening of southerly and southwesterly winds over the north Arabian Sea have been forecast from the night of March 21.
Under the influence of all these meteorological features, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall or snowfall and thunderstorms are possible over the Western Himalayan Region. The peak fall over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh is expected on Monday and Tuesday with some ease on Wednesday. The additional snow accumulation of 3-day total is expected over 100 cm across the region.
Meanwhile, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall and thunderstorms and lightning are possible over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and west Uttar Pradesh on March 22 and 23. At some isolated places of Punjab, heavy rainfall is also expected on March 22. There are also possibilities of isolated hailstorms over Punjab and West Rajasthan on March 22 and over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh and east Rajasthan on March 22-23.
In the northeast, Arunachal Pradesh is expected to witness rain or snowfall along with thunderstorms throughout this week.
A cyclonic circulation is present over Madhya Pradesh, which is expected to trigger isolated rain and thunderstorms mainly over Maharashtra at least until Wednesday.
Moist easterly winds are expected to produce isolated rain with thunderstorms over the southern tip of the Southern Peninsula during this forecast period.
Maximum temperatures are likely to be 2°C to 4°C below average across Punjab until Thursday. The overnight minimums are expected to be 4°C to 8°C warmer than normal across Delhi and the NCR on Monday.

Widespread heavy rain or snow and thunderstorms are possible over Jammu & Kashmir and western Himachal Pradesh. Fairly widespread snow or rain and thunderstorms are expected over Ladakh. Fairly widespread rain/snow and thunderstorms are possible over east Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Scattered rain and thunderstorms are likely over Punjab.
Isolated rain/snow and thunderstorms are possible over Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. Isolated rain and thunderstorms are expected over Haryana, Rajasthan, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep. Maximum temperatures are likely to reach 40°C in some places of coastal Maharashtra, coastal Karnataka, and Odisha.
