On November 13, 2019, at the Honoring Ceremony of Seoul Citizen, among 18 selected foreign citizens, there was, for the first time, one Vietnamese. That was Le Nguyen Minh Phuong, 33 years old, from Da Nang, a pretty and talented woman who is currently working as a lecturer at Joongbu University in Korea. In addition to being a university lecturer, Phuong also works for KBS Radio as a translator and MC in both English and Korean language.

After graduating from university, she received a master's scholarship in Korea. “I came to Korea at the end of 2013 and started my master's program. The first difficulty was to quickly adapt to a new study program which was completely in Korean. Besides, I have to take care of my daughter and mother. The biggest difficulty was to both well perform the role of a mother at home while, at the same, work my best for the school program,” Phuong said.

Phuong hosted KBS's weekly show named "Story from Seoul". Phuong's show introduced hundreds of prominent Vietnamese in Korea as well as cultural exchange events of the two countries.

“Currently I am teaching Vietnamese at Joongbu University in Central Korea. In addition to teaching at the university, I also give online lessons for those who are about to take TOPIC exam. I was also invited by the VTV4 and VTC channels to be a collaborator,” Phuong said cheerfully.

In July 2019, KBS National Television made a 50-minute program titled "Superwoman from Vietnam" to talk about Minh Phuong. In recognition of Phuong's contributions to Vietnam-Korea relations, Seoul Council awarded her the title of Seoul Citizen. The award ceremony was solemnly held by the Seoul city government at the city hall. Phuong is the first Vietnamese citizen to have this honor, which allows her to attend events or give advice on foreign policy to the Seoul city government.

She hopes that her jobs will help foreigners, especially Vietnamese in the city to have a better life, as well as promote and introduce the image of the country and people of Vietnam to Korean friends and other countries.

Phuong's upcoming intention is to complete her doctoral study at Yonsei University and continue teaching at Joongbu University, as well as continue to undertake the KBS "Stories from Seoul", and to deliver many more TOPIC lectures for Vietnamese people in Korea.

With her talent and enthusiasm, Le Nguyen Minh Phuong has left in the minds of Korean and Vietnamese an imprint of a respectable, dynamic and energetic Vietnamese woman with multiple talents.
