Lush green Vietnamese garden in Canada

Although being busy with work, the couple spends time tending the garden as a way of entertainment and overcome the homesickness for Vietnam, VNExpress reported.

The winter in Canada is quite severe, therefore, fruits and vegetables are only grown in the summer. Kim Thoa takes advantage of every piece of land in the garden to grow vegetables and raise fish.

Initially, Thoa only raises a dozen fish, now, they reproduce up to a hundred. Ha Van Thanh, Thoa’s husband makes his own water purification and algae elimination system. Thoa plants lotus flowers in the fish pond.

The couple builds a small wooden-house next to the fish pond. Its roof is covered by fruit-laden grapes and gourds trees. This is an ideal place for the whole family to have dinner and drink coffee.

Due to the complicated development of COVID-19 in Canada, Thoa’s birthday party is also organized in the home garden.

Rose, daisy, etc are also planted in the garden. Every March, the bindweed flowers burst into full bloom adorning the house with the violet hues.

In the abundant harvesting seasons, Thoa presents fruits and vegetables to relatives and friends.

Occasionally, Thoa wears ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) to take photos in the garden to overcome the nostalgia for the home country. “Although living far away from Vietnam nearly 12,000 km, my family always thinks of the country”, Thoa was quoted by VNE as saying.
