Tuan was born and raised in Thai Binh, northern Vietnam. In 1998, he moved to Slovakia with his family and has been living and working there since then. Tuan bought an apartment two years ago.

Tuan took advantage of the spacious front and back spine gardens, which measure 20 meters square and 200 meters square, respectively, to turn into his own Vietnamese-styled ones.

Over 20 years living away from home country, Tuan grew more homesick. As a nature lover, for every time he came back to visit Vietnam, Tuan always returned Slovakia with a suitcase full of neatly-trimmed trees. He also asked his relatives and friends to fetch home some whenever they fly back Slovakia from Vietnam.

This New Year holiday, Tuan even went to Bat Trang pottery village himself to buy decorative items for his garden, even though there are many sold in Slovakia. “I only want to put things that are the closest to the Vietnamese way of life into my garden”, Tuan said.
He also designed and made a rockery all by himself to give it the Vietnamese vibe. The rockery is considered the most peaceful and relaxing corner in the garden for Tuan and his family members.

His garden is relatively completed now, with fruit trees like star-fruits, guava, etc,…Those fruit trees, however, are brought into his house during cold winter days as due to extreme cold weather in the US.

Along with fruit trees, Tuan also dedicates a 10-meter-square corner for vegetables. The corner is laden with tomatoes, gourds, green peppers, morning glories, lettuce, etc., all are the familiar veggies and ingredients to cook a typical Vietnamese meal.
“I feel like home enjoying the meal with Vietnamese foods in the middle of a European country. Thanks to this, my two daughters can have a better understanding of the Vietnamese cuisine and culture”, Tuan was quoted by VNE.

The garden is also colored with an abundance of flowers, including roses, jasmine, dahlia, to name a few. In the summer, the garden is filled with attractive fragrant when almost all the flowers are in bloom.
