Despite the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnamese expats in Macao have made efforts to surmount difficulties and promoted the spirit of solidarity and mutual support.

Currently, there are a number of Vietnamese associations in Macao that have operated actively and effectively notably the Vietnam Fellow Countrymen Friendship Association. Nevertheless, to build a stronger community, it is necessary to establish a strong association which is closely organized and can gather a large number of people based on the spirit of solidarity and unity, Consul General Tran Thanh Huan said, stressing that the founding of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Macao marks an important milestone for the Vietnamese community in Macao.

Huan expressed his hope that the association will serve as a bridge between the community’s members and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Hong Kong, proactively coordinate with other associations in implementing activities for the common benefits for all people.

The launching ceremony also saw special art performances with the theme of Vietnamese country and people.

There have been more than 22,000 people from Vietnam or with Vietnamese origin living in Macao Special Administrative Region.
