The seminar recognized the practical and effective support from the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs like organizing training courses on the Vietnamese teaching methods, providing materials for teaching and learning Vietnamese, building schools for people in difficult areas. In particular, the annual program “Xuân quê hương” (The spring in the homeland) and Vietnam Summer Camp have become great cultural events, arousing and nurturing the desire to learn the national language and traditional culture of Vietnam. In addition, press and media agencies have developed programs to teach Vietnamese on television, radio, and the Internet.
The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs expressed its hope to cooperate with the Ministry of Education and Training and other agencies to organize training sessions on Vietnamese teaching skills for overseas teachers as well as foster teaching and learning in online form amid the complex Covid-19 situation.
At the seminar, overseas Vietnamese teachers shared the teaching method associated with the national culture especially traditional culture such as folk songs and folklore. They also shared initiatives to improve the quality and effectiveness of teaching Vietnamese to Vietnamese people abroad.
Nevertheless, this method has drawbacks such as difficulties in testing, managing, and interacting with students, they said.
