On May 10, People’s Committee of Co To district along with Quang Ninh Provincial Police held the Inauguration Ceremony of the National Flagpole on Thanh Lan Island.

Construction of the National flagpole on Thanh Lan Island began on December 21, 2023, on an area of 2,900m2 with a height of 16.8m and a total construction expense of 5 billion VND.

The construction imposes an important meaning as affirming the national border sovereignty and contributing to local tourism development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Dinh Van Noi, Director of Quang Ninh Provincial Police, acknowledged the efforts of the Party Committee, authorities, and people of Co To district for the solidarity, consensus, and determination to finish the construction on schedule.

This project is of immense importance to the Party Committee, local authorities, military, and residents of the island district, aiding in the defense of the nation's sacred maritime sovereignty.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Thai, Party Secretary and Chairwoman of the Thanh Lan Commune People's Committee highlighted that the national flagpole on Thanh Lan Island stands as a symbol affirming the sacred sovereignty of our seas and islands.

The project expresses the trust and love of mainlanders towards the Front Island commune and will be a site for educating revolutionary traditions, and patriotism among every generation.

The national flagpole on Thanh Lan Island will serve as a place for important local events and offer local residents and tourists a place to fully enjoy a sweeping view of the peaceful island.
