A representative of the South Korean’s tech giant branch in Vietnam affirmed that patient 262nd, a resident of Hanoi’s Ha Loi Village who was confirmed infected with the novel coronavirus on Monday morning, is a worker under a department of quality control in Samsung Display Vietnam.

The worker was away from the office and self-isolated right since April 7. The provincial authorities have defined around 100 people, who have contracted directly with patient 262nd and quarantined as well as conducted some preventive measures in the area.

The authorities are considering and examining the company’s canteen after closing down the factory.

Vietnam’s COVID-19 count stands at 262, with 144 discharged after recovery.

Samsung Bac Ninh is the largest mobile manufacturer of Samsung in Vietnam with the total investment reaching billions of US dollars, which provides thousands of jobs for people in the area and the vicinity.

Samsung stressed its role in taking care of workers, support clients and join hands to help the community when COVID-19 pandemic is still uncertain, according to the company’s statement.

The South Korean tech firm established responsive groups across the globe aiming to provide necessary manpower and updates the latest guidelines from medical agencies in home countries.

Samsung Electronics accounts for a quarter of Vietnam’s exports, and the Southeast Asian country is South Korea’s third-biggest export market, and the fifth-biggest source of South Korea’s imports, Vnexpress International reported.
