The ceremony was attended by the President of the Oversea Vietnamese Association in Macau, representatives of 18 provinces, and members of the Association of Fellow Countrymen of Thanh Hoa province. The ceremony was an opportunity to honor Vietnamese history, tighten bond betweens people from Thanh Hoa province, and build a better overseas Vietnamese community in Macau.

Speaking at the ceremony, the president of the Association of Fellow Countrymen of Thanh Hoa province Ngo Minh Chu said the association was established on June 26, 2016. From starting with just 17 members, the association has now over 300 members.

Chu said the association has been working based on the principles of solidarity and mutual support in challenging times. The Association of Fellow Countrymen of Thanh Hoa province in Macau has received numerous awards from the Consulate of Vietnam in Hong Kong and Macau and the Vietnam Mutual Aid Association. Many members of the association have also received individual awards and certificates of recognition from the Consulate of Vietnam in Hong Kong and Macau.

Chu said the Association of Fellow Countrymen of Thanh Hoa province in Macau was active in all aspects from charity to cultural and sports programs. The association visits sick members and calls for support to those in need in Macau and Vietnam.

Every year, the association donates hundreds of millions of Vietnamese dong to assist the homeless, disadvantaged and people with severe health conditions in Vietnam.

From 2017 to 2020, the association had donated VND 865 million to disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals in Vietnam. “This amount of money might not be much, but it symbolizes the efforts of the Thanh Hoa community in Macau to support the marginalized groups at home,” Chu said.

At the ceremony, the president of the association awarded the certificate of recognition to 23 members from the dance group and the visitor greeting group for their continuously excellent performance in their five-year tenures. Chu also presented commemorative presents to 24 members who had made an active contribution to developing the association.

Members of different associations of fellow countrymen brought spectacular performances to the ceremony, highlighting Vietnamese culture. In particular, the Thanh Hoa provincial women soccer team debuted on this occasion. The team will compete and hold joint activities with the soccer teams from Vietnamese associations of other provinces.
