946 new Covid-19 cases over the last 24 hours

Vietnam recorded 330 new Covid-19 infections between 6 am and 12:30 pm on July 3, raising the national count to 18,690. One imported case was immediately placed under quarantine upon arrival in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang. Of the 329 new domestic infections, 280 cases were found in quarantine or sealed-off areas.

Vietnam logged 353 new Covid-19 cases from in the past six hours to 6 pm on July 3. As many as 306 cases were discovered in quarantine or locked down areas and 248 patients were given the all-clear from the virus.

267 new Covid-19 cases, including four imported and 263 domestic infections, were found in the morning of July 4. Most of the domestic infections were detected in the southern largest hub of Ho Chi Minh City, with 217 cases. The remainders were found in Phu Yen (17), Long An (15), Khanh Hoa (9), Ba Ria – Vung Tau (2), Dong Thap (2), and An Giang (1).

Vietnam records three more Covid-19 deaths

The Ministry of Health announced three Covid-19 over the last few days, pushing the country’s death toll since the pandemic started to 84.

The first patient is a 69-year-old man in Bac Ninh. On May 13, the patient was tested positive for Covid-19. The patient died on June 30 due to septic shock, multi-organ failure, and severe pneumonia with complications caused by Covid-19.

The next death is a 67-year-old man in Thu Duc District, HCMC with an underlying condition of history of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and chronic renal failure.

The other death is a 64-year-old man in District 12, HCMC. The patient had a history of hypertension and heart disease. On June 15, the patient tested positive for Covid-19 and was transferred to the Cu Chi Field hospital for treatment.

Diagnosis included septic shock, multiple organ failure, severe pneumonia caused by Covid-19, complications of progressive respiratory failure with a background of hypertension, and heart disease.

Government launched USD 1.14 bln support package to help Covid-19 hit workers

The Government has just issued Resolution No 68 on several policies to support employees and employers facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic, worth a total of VND 26 trillion (USD 1.13 billion).

Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung on July 1 afternoon during the regular Government press meeting has discussed the details of the support package. Minister Dung emphasized that the support solutions this time focusing mainly on the group of workers in industrial zones and export processing zones.

There are 12 supporting policies introduced in the recently issued Resolution. Some policies can be mentioned such as reducing the contribution to the insurance fund for occupational accidents and diseases, suspend the payment of retirement and survivorship funds, use unemployment insurance funds to support vocational training and job changes; support employees with their labor contracts temporarily terminated; and additional support and assistance to children.

Dung said that Resolution 68 also promulgated policies to support businesses to borrow money for wages and to restore production and business.

The new infections brought the national count to 19,310, including 17,462 domestic and 1,848 imported cases. The number of locally transmitted cases since the fourth wave of outbreaks hit the country on April 27 amounted to 15,892.

Among active patients undergoing treatment, 313 have tested negative to coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, 132 twice and 74 thrice. A total of 7,643 patients have been free from the virus while the death toll related to the disease was 84.

Up to 240,924 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or entered Vietnam from pandemic-hit regions are currently quarantined across the country, including 2,114 in hospitals, 54,219 in state-designated establishments 184,491 at their places of residence.

By 5 pm on July 3, Vietnam’s Covid-19 vaccine fund had received VND 8,041 billion (USD 350.78 million). The sum was contributed by 358,572 organizations and individuals both at home and abroad.
