Visitors to Vietnam do not need to show Covid-19 vaccination, recovery certificates: MoH proposes
The Ministry of Health (MoH) is proposing that people can enter Vietnam without certificates of Covid-19 vaccination or recovery but need to implement anti-pandemic measures. It suggested that air passengers need to show a certified negative result of RT-PCR/RT-LAMP tests within 72 hours or of rapid antigen tests within 24 hours prior to their departure. They also do not need to undergo post-entry testing but have to follow Covid-19 prevention and control measures like those who have been staying in Vietnam.
For people entering Vietnam by other means of transportation, those who already had a negative test result for the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 will follow anti-pandemic rules like air passengers.
Those without a negative test result will undergo either RT-PCR/RT-LAMP or rapid antigen test within the first 24 hours of their entry. They will continue following anti-pandemic measures if the test result is negative, but have to report to local health authorities to receive instructions if it is positive, the MoH proposed.
All people entering Vietnam will have to make health declarations prior to their entry and use the health declaration app PC-Covid throughout their stay in the country.

Coronavirus cases likely to return to the workplace in HCM City
Ho Chi Minh City is examining the possibility of allowing Covid-19 infected cases (F0) and close-contact cases (F1) to return to the workplace if their health is guaranteed. If asymptomatic cases have no health problems and are willing to work, they can come back to the workplace under close scrutiny, said Phan Van Mai, head of the municipal government on March 9.
He pointed out that a number of agencies and businesses are facing a serious shortage of personnel to maintain operation as many employees are F0 cases and placed in quarantine at home. The matter should be reconsidered thoroughly to ensure normal operations of socio-economic establishments, said Mai. He assigned the Municipal Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control and Economic Recovery to weigh up the option and submit proposals at the committee’s next meeting.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, suggested that the health sector should flexibly adjust pandemic measures, including the 5K practice, noting some of those regulations such as maintaining a safe distance and avoiding gatherings are no longer consistent with real life.
The total caseload since the beginning of the pandemic has now reached over 5 million. Furthermore, the total number of recoveries grew to more than 2.85 million. The Covid-19 death toll nationwide also rose to over 41,000 with the confirmation of 109 fatalities over the past 24 hours, with Hanoi reporting the highest number of deaths at 24. The country’s Covid-19 deaths make up 0.9% of the total infections since the pandemic began. The average number of deaths recorded over the past seven days now stands at 91 cases daily. By March 8, the country had injected roughly 198.6 million vaccine doses, with more than 67 million people now fully inoculated, while over 1.492 million third shots have now been administered. |
