5,637 fresh Covid-19 cases detected across Vietnam
The Health Ministry reported the detection of an additional 5,637 Covid-19 on November 2, including 24 imported ones, 18 cases higher than the previous day.
The southern province of Dong Nai suffered the highest number of infections with 858, trailed by Binh Duong province with 780 and Ho Chi Minh City with 682.
Hanoi capital recorded 56 fresh cases. There are 6 clusters of community infection in the capital, of which the outbreaks in Sai Son commune (Quoc Oai district), Bach Tru (Me Linh district) are linked to family-related large gatherings, with most cases having been vaccinated and indicating no symptoms. Currently, the city has around 48 lockdown sites with about 15,400 people in quarantine.
The past 24 hours have seen the country record a total of 74 deaths from the disease, while a further 2,741 patients were given the all-clear.

Hanoi told to stay highly alert to Covid-19
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam on November 2 urged Hanoi to stay highly alert as the pandemic has already “penetrated very deeply into the community”. Deputy PM Dam said the city must flexibly but also safely adapt to the pandemic, so it still has to stay ready for worse cases. Particularly, the principles set out at the start of the Covid-19 fight, which is “prevention, detection, quarantine, sealing off, curbing transmission, and early treatment”, remains unchanged, he noted.
Regarding school reopening, the Deputy PM requested that local authorities consider gradually resuming in-person teaching and learning activities based on people’s demands. Once accepting to living with Covid-19, the entire health monitoring system, including schools and health establishments, must raise their pandemic alert to a higher level compared to the past, according to the official.
At the meeting, Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong said Hanoi will build a corona response plan at a higher level than the current one and devise appropriate measures to manage infection cases and those having close contact with them in accordance with the city's situation.

Hoi An, My Son to pilot welcoming international tourists this month
The central province of Quang Nam, home to the world cultural heritage sites of Hoi An ancient city and My Son Sanctuary, will pilot a program to welcome international tourists back from this month as the pandemic is put under control in the locality. Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thanh Hong said that the department had submitted a draft plan to welcome foreigners from potential and safe markets such as Northeast Asia, Europe, the US, the Middle East, and Oceania.
The pilot program will be implemented in three phases. The first phase starts in November only for those who use combo packages and visit several selected destinations such as Hoi An ancient city, My Son Sanctuary, and Hoiana Complex.
The second phase starting from January 2022 expects to welcome more arrivals through chartered and regular commercial flights. After completing a seven-day tour of the first destination, tourists can visit several destinations in Da Nang city, and Kien Giang, Khanh Hoa, and Quang Ninh provinces.
In the third phase, full re-opening will be decided based on the pandemic's developments and the results of the two previous phases, according to VNA.

Some Hanoi schools to resume in-classroom teaching from November 8
Schools in Hanoi's suburban districts and townships will reopen for in-person learning on November 8, according to the city's People's Committee. Students in Grades 5, 6, 9, 10, and 12, from the city's 18 suburban districts and townships, will be the first to return to in-person classes. The remaining grades, and students from the inner city, will continue learning online. Kindergartens will remain closed too.
Schools are required to meet the safety requirements issued by the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Health. They must make plans to ensure the distance between students and the number of students in each class. Teachers who have not received two doses of the vaccine are not allowed to teach in-person classes.
The local steering committee for Covid-19 prevention and control will suspend in-person learning if there are more infection cases to ensure the safety of students and teachers. The city authorities also require schools not to serve meals at school, only teach one session a day and combine with online teaching.
The total caseload now stands at 932,357 since the start of the pandemic, including 927,494 recorded since the start of the fourth pandemic wave in late April, VOV cited. As of November 1, the country had successfully inoculated over 83.1 million doses of vaccines, with more than 25.1 million people now being fully vaccinated. |
