Eager to support
With some districts in Ho Chi Minh City quarantined, Quynh Hoa, deputy director of Youth Cultural House, called for volunteers to support Ho Chi Minh City medical staff in testing people in blockade areas.
Immediately, 10 artists asked to join Quynh Hoa to support the fight against the pandemic. They participated in instructing people to take samples for the test and cleaning Vietnam National University's dormitory, which served as an isolation ward. After a month, 50 artists have joined the call.

"The artists have become soldiers on the front against the pandemic. Over the past few days, they came to Ho Chi Minh City's hot spots to support the medical staff. Some artists even work more than 10 hours a day, every day in nearly a month," Quynh Hoa said.
Quynh Hoa herself works from 7 am to 3 am on the next morning in continuous 30 days. To ensure safety, she limits contact with other people, follows the disinfection process, eats well, and increases taking vitamin C supplements.

Artists from all over the nation
Fifty artists came to Ho Chi Minh City from different provinces. Some traveled 150 km a day, from Binh Duong to Ho Chi Minh City, for nearly a month to support doctors and nurses in Covid hotspots. One of the artists, Model Hoang My said she became a volunteer because she "loved the doctors and the medical staff."
Miss Universe Vietnam H'Hen Nie also joined, helping to guide people when screening before vaccination. It was first time she participated in pandemic volunteer work in Ho Chi Minh.

Model Mau Thuy also joined the group.“Seeing the long lines of people waiting to be vaccinated, I understand that if we do not work together, those on the front lines will be exhausted. I am glad that people are more aware of vaccination to protect themselves and the community," she said.

Donate money for the fight
Besides artists who directly came to support the vaccination campaign, others utilized their fame to call for donations.
In May, MC Quyen Linh went to Cho Ray hospital to donate VND 2 billion (US$ 86,967) for people in pandemic-hit areas. Singer Tuan Hung and his colleagues also sent more than VND 500 million to Bac Ninh and Bac Giang - two provinces that experience the most severe outbreaks.

Many other artists, namely actors Xuan Bac and Ha Khuong, held live streams to help farmers in pandemic areas to sell their goods. Xuan Bac was praised for selling nearly 90 tons of agricultural produce in just a few hours of live streaming three weeks ago.
As the country struggled to cope with the pandemic, Vietnamese artists showed a sense of social responsibility. They have - in different ways - contributed to the government in fighting the novel virus.
