The Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front held an online conference at 13 overseas locations with representatives of overseas Vietnamese associations such as Cambodia, Thailand, Russia, Hungary, Japan, Poland, France, USA, Canada and the Czech Republic, on Aug. 27.
The conference was an opportunity for the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to inform overseas Vietnamese associations about the country's socioeconomic situation, and work results for overseas Vietnamese in 2020 and 2021.
After listening to reports of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, representing the Vietnamese community in Europe, Hoang Dinh Thang gave a preliminary report on the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the Czech Republic and the region. At the same time, he spoke about the production and business activities of the Vietnamese community, as well as the resumption of production activities in the context of the pandemic.
Hoang Dinh Thang said: “Since March 2020, when the pandemic broke out in Europe, we have advocated minimizing Vietnamese community activities in the region."
"Most recently, despite being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, through organizations and associations, people have strongly responded to domestic calls, as well as supported and donated for vaccines for Vietnam. When Ho Chi Minh City was heavily affected by the pandemic, the community held practical support activities."

Hoang Dinh Thang also said that according to the expected plan, the Union of Vietnamese in Europe would hold the second Congress in October 2021 in Belgium. However, due to the complicated development of the pandemic, the Congress could be postponed to 2022. During that time, the Union will continue to coordinate with associations in European countries so that when the pandemic ends, activities can quickly return to normal.
In the context of Vietnam facing many difficulties due to the complicated pandemic situation, the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic and wider Europe will unite, respond and join hands to help Vietnam overcome the pandemic.
The Union of Vietnamese in Europe will continue to coordinate with associations in the region to organize activities when conditions permit, and strive to coordinate with people in the Czech Republic and European communities to conduct foreign affairs to affirm the position of the Vietnamese in the region and world.
