“Ký ức và di sản” (Memories and Heritages) is a part of the series of activities honoring the Vietnamese Ao Dai, celebrating the success of the 13th National Party Congress and the 111th anniversary of the International Women's Day (March 8, 1910 - March 8, 2021), also responding to "Ao Dai Week".

VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga (M) gifted two Ao dai to the Vietnamese Women's Museum.

The Ambassador shared: "I feel extremely proud of wearing Ao Dai at the international forums, diplomatic events or during the visit to countries, etc. I am well aware of my responsibility to behave in such a way that it is worth the country's traditional and historical values. Ao Dai wearing creates Vietnam's national best image to the world. As being diplomats, my colleagues and I take the responsibility to not only protect the country’s highest interests but also promote the traditional values of the country, of humankind. Many international friends praise Vietnamese women who look so polite, attractive, and elegant in Ao Dai. They asked me about the differences in materials and origin of Ao Dai as well as differences between traditional and modern Ao Dai”.

Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga (R) shared her memories when participating in performing Ao Dai and national musical instruments at a Vietnamese cultural event in New York (the United States). The event was attended by nearly 1,000 Ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions to the United Nations.

"Vietnamese Ao Dai deserves the intangible cultural heritage of humanity. This is because Ao Dai is associated with the history and development of the country as well as with Vietnamese women; at the same time, it is Vietnam’s outstanding representative in the international fashion industry, showing the talents of the local artisans. I believe that Ao Dai will continue to be honored and loved by Vietnamese women. We will make Vietnamese Ao Dai more beautiful and more popular in the world and in the Vietnamese community overseas", Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga emphasized.

At the ceremony, the Vietnamese Women's Museum received 20 Ao Dai in the collection of more than 1,000 ones introduced at the show "Ao Dai - Vietnamese cultural heritage" at Temple of Literature on June 28, 2020.
