All 50 states and DC have certified presidential election results

All 50 states and the District of Columbia have now certified their presidential results, according to CNN's tally, as the Electoral College process moves forward with the meeting of electors on Monday.

West Virginia became the final state to certify its presidential election results Wednesday, formally declaring that President Donald Trump is entitled to the state's five electoral votes.

President-elect Joe Biden is projected to win 306 electoral votes, and Trump is projected to win 232. It takes 270 electoral votes of the 538 available to become president.

The states' certifications come as Trump has baselessly claimed that the election was rigged and sowed doubt about the outcome of the presidential race. Dozens of lawsuits challenging the results have been dismissed at the state and federal levels across the country since the November election.

Each state has different processes for certifying results, and some states certified their slate of presidential electors separately from state and local election results.

The next major step in the Electoral College process is the meeting of the electors, who are required by law to convene on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December, which this year is December 14. The electors' votes are later transmitted to officials and counted in a joint session of Congress on January 6.

Some states have laws that seek to bind their electors to the winning candidate and in some instances stipulate that so-called "faithless electors" may be subject to penalties or replaced by another elector. The Supreme Court ruled this summer that such laws punishing members of the Electoral College for breaking a pledge to vote for the state's popular vote winner are constitutional, ABC 57 reported.

Bring me anyone who will say he bribed me and I will resign – Duterte said

President Rodrigo Duterte offered again offered to resign on Monday if anybody could bring out a person in public who would admit bribing him with even just a single peso, as reported by Inquirer.

“There are many speculations out there that Cabinet members and I are receiving money,” Duterte said, speaking partly in Filipino, in his weekly pre-recorded speech. “Look, I give you this guarantee. Just bring a person who will say that he gave us a peso, I will resign tomorrow.”

“Just one person, one affidavit,” he added. “No invention. Just the truth that he says we received money. Just bring him before the public and announce it and if true, I will tender my resignation as President of this republic,” he added.

The President also asked the public to expose Cabinet members who accepted bribes.

Then he issued a warning: “Do not lie. Don’t invent [a story]. That‘s bad. If you do that, it’s you I’m going to kill.”

It was not the first time that Duterte offered to resign. Previously, he said he had already offered to resign because of endless corruption in government.

Canada approves Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine

Canada has bought more shots of the vaccine per head than any other country, and says the approval is a "critical milestone".

In a statement, Health Canada said the authorisation was a "critical milestone" in the fight against COVID-19 - and stressed that the review process had been "rigorous".

The country is set to receive 249,000 doses this month, and four million doses by the end of March.

Overall, Canada has a firm order for 20 million doses of this vaccine with an option to buy 56 million more, meaning it has purchased more shots per head than any other country.

Officials stressed that they "will closely monitor the safety of the vaccine once it is on the market and will not hesitate to take action if any safety concerns are identified".

At present, Canada is allowing people over the age of 16 to receive the vaccine, but said the rollout may be extended to young people once "clinical trials on children of all age groups" are completed.

The announcement comes a week after the UK became the first country in the world to approve Pfizer's vaccine, which was shown to be 95% effective at preventing illness in large-scale clinical trials.

On Monday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the first doses of Pfizer's vaccine will arrive in Canada by the end of December.

The vaccine is going to be administered for free nationwide - and just like the UK, Canada has said it plans to prioritise the most vulnerable in its society, as well as the doctors and carers who look after them.

Gold markets have pulled back from the 50 day EMA during the trading session on Wednesday as we are seen a little bit more “risk on” as people await the stimulus in the United States and of course the meeting between Ursula von der Leyen and Boris Johnson. Ultimately, this is a market that may have gotten a little bit stretched in the short term, but it does look like there will probably be a bit of support underneath and therefore that is what I am looking for. I am more than willing to pick up gold on the cheap, extending all the way down to the $1800 level. If we were to break down below there and perhaps the lows just underneath there, then we would have to be a bit concerned, according to FX Empire.
