745 photographers from 63 provinces joined the contest of "Pride toward national frontier"

The contest aims to propagate and promote the beauty, the development of the peaceful and amiable border areas; recognize and honor the contributions and sacrifices made by different generations of Vietnam, especially the armed forces in the defense of the Fatherland's independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

Among nearly 7,000 registered works, the Organizers of the concert selected 196 works for exhibition, including 4078 single photos and 399 photo sets of 745 authors from 63 provinces and cities nationwide.
Held for the first time and in the problematic context of the Covid-19 pandemic, the artistic photo contest with the theme of "Pride toward national frontier" attracted the attention of different classes, especially the professional and amateur photographers.
According to the Organizing Team, the works participating in the Contest were of good quality, high creativeness, all met the criteria of layout, lighting, content; comprehensively depicted the beauty of the homeland and Vietnamese people in the border areas of the country. The works were the true and vivid reflection of unique features in daily life, production, works, cultural festivals, and art forms of ethnic minorities along land borderlines.

At the same time, the photographic artists have reflected honestly the daily life and training process, the willingness to defend the territorial sovereignty, national border security of the armed forces, the Border guards - those who always stand for the national territory, overcome the harshness of nature, the difficulties and hardships, stay side by side with the people to ensure the peace of the homeland.
The works also showed the border of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development through cultural and commercial exchanges of people on both sides of the border; activities of visiting, encouraging, meeting, coordinating between the border forces on both sides; and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, culture, society, science, technology, defense, security, ... between the two governments.

Speaking at the award ceremony, General Ngo Xuan Lich, member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense highly appreciated the organization and results of the contest, which was able to show the attractiveness and effectiveness in diversifying communication methods of propaganda on border demarcation and border management.
The result of the contest was a living testament to the deep concern of all classes of people, especially photographers throughout the country, towards the sovereignty of national borders. The Minister also highly appreciated the results of information and propaganda on the work of demarcation and border management over the past time, leaving an important contribution to building people's consensus and trust and support towards the Party and State, creating national's comprehensive power, raising Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena.

Emphasizing that 2020 was about to close with important achievements, especially the comprehensive completion of the tasks set out by the 12th Congress Resolution, Minister Ngo Xuan Lich said that the country was welcoming 2021 with a lot of joy and pride in the achievements that the Party and country have achieved, including achievements in defending the integrity of national sovereignty, building a border of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development. In order to continue to well perform that sacred task, the communication, and propaganda on the national border and territory work needed to pay attention to well deepen the awareness of the country's position and prestige, the protection of sovereignty, national territorial integrity in the new period. At the same time, he asked to continue to strengthen coordination and bring into play the comprehensive power of forces and the entire political system in promoting information on issues related to national border sovereignty; actively promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam, and the beauty of the national border.
The contest is scheduled to be held every two years. Based on this year's awards, the organizers will review, evaluate, and orient the next year's event. With the spirit of enhancing innovation in content and methods of communication and propagation, the contest is not only for photo works of the mainland border areas but also of the islands. The contest promises to create a rewarding and professional forum for photographers.
