Australia supports Vietnam AUD500,000 to construct waterway management system

A Memorandum of Understanding on the project was signed between the Ministry of Transport's Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration and Aus4transport on July 17, according to Nhan Dan.
The project is to be carried out over 18 months, will review the information technology software of the Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration to convert it into an integrated information management system.
The new system is expected to support the Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration in specialized management, evaluation and planning, and making decisions on investment in national and provincial waterway projects.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho waterway has been chosen to pilot the collection and update of data and will be managed under the new system.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Ngoc Dong said: "Aus4Transport is a comprehensive program supported by the Australian Government in Vietnam's transport sector. Currently, most of the program goals are well implemented and there is a close cooperation between the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, especially the Australian Embassy and the Ministry of Transport. The Ministry of Transport is committed to supervise and guide the Vietnam Inland Waterway Administration to carry out the project according to the objectives. We are also committed to build a system for industry sectors that integrate and share databases between the Ministry of Transport and other ministries."

Ms. Rebecca Bryan, Ambassador - Deputy Embassy of Australia in Vietnam highly appreciated the Ministry of Transport for the investment focus, and expressed the desire that the project will help Vietnam Inland Waterway Administration to improve the efficiency of specialized management, and create strong development of waterway transport, informed Transportation News.
The Australian Government's Aus4transport program with a total budget of AUD 30 million was implemented in 2017-2022 to support Vietnam's Ministry of Transport in developing quality transport projects and encourage the investment in the transport sector, introduce innovation to ensure the project implementation to contribute positively to the socio-economic development process of Vietnam. |
