Number of infections in the US and Spain surges
On July 5, the US and Brazil are the most severely affected countries since the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. The total number of cases in the United States and Brazil s 2,979,867 and 1,603,055, while the total deaths are 132,551 and 64,867 respectively.
The rolling seven-day average for daily new cases in the United States reached a record high for the 27th day in a row, climbing to 48,606 on Sunday, according to The Washington Post’s tracking. Local officials in states with surging cases issued dire warnings Sunday about the spread of infections, blaming outbreaks in their communities on early reopenings and saying the virus was rapidly outpacing containment efforts.
Authorities in northwestern Spain have ordered a lockdown in Galicia — a county with a population of 71,000 — over new outbreaks, a day after authorities in northeast Catalonia locked down more than 200,000 people. Both lockdowns only allow people to leave the areas for work and other extenuating circumstances, reported by The Guardian.
Since the pandemic outbreak, Spain has recorded 297,625 infections while the total deaths are 28,385.
Number of Indian detected cases surpasses Russia
Notably, on July 5, India recorded a new high rise of 23,932 cases, bringing the total number of people with Covid-19 to 697,836, surpassing Russia to become the third worst affected country, according to Business Insider.
Delhi, India's capital, leads the country in new COVID-19 cases, reported by BBC, with a lack of testing and contract tracing playing a small role in the massive caseload. Last week, the outlet reported that the capital city was the country's largest hotspot with nearly 80,000 cases.
To deal with the current outbreak, New Delhi began treating Covid-19 patients at the newly established center with an area equivalent to 22 football fields and 10,000 beds. This center is considered the largest field hospital for the treatment of Covid-19 in the world.
With the current trend of increasing the number of cases, some Indian Government officials are concerned that by the end of this July, the capital of New Delhi could record more than 500,000 cases of Covid-19. The latest report also shows that the number of deaths due to this disease in India has reached 673,000 and 19,268, respectively.

China detects new infections in different cities
According to China's National Health Commission on July 5, mainland China has recorded eight new cases in the past 24 hours, including 3 cases detected in Gansu, 1 in Sichuan, and the rest in Tianjin and Shanghai. So far, 1,863 recoveries have been discharged while 68 people are in the process of treatment.
Also according to the National Health Commission, as of July 5, mainland China recorded a total of 83,553 cases of COVID-19, including 4,634 deaths.
The Philippines is the Southeast Asian country that recorded the highest number of new cases on July 5, with 2,424 cases, bringing the total number of SARS-CoV-2 virus infections across the country to 44,254.
The Philippines Ministry of Health said the increase in new cases could be due to more contacts between people as the country begins to relax isolation measures to help minimize economic losses caused by the Translation cause. The Philippines also recorded 7 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths across the country to 1,297.
In the Middle East, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the country was "in a state of emergency" due to a doubling of Covid-19 cases. According to The World and Vietnam, PM Netanyahu said the increase was challenging the Israeli health system.
Israel's Ministry of Health recorded 755 new infections on July 5, bringing the total number of Covid-19 cases to 29,787.

In South Africa, the Ministry of Defense deployed more than 50 military personnel to the Eastern Cape province to increase support for local health teams in the context of the province becoming the largest outbreak of Covid-19. 3 in South Africa, accounting for more than 18% of all cases nationwide.
The decision to deploy a military force to the Eastern Cape province came a day after South Africa recorded 10,800 additional SARS-CoV-2 virus infections in 24 hours. Currently, South Africa has 187,977 cases of Covid-19, of which 3,026 died.

Vietnam welcomes the first high-level visit since the pandemic
Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Lao counterpart Thongloun Sisoulith discussed on COVID-19 pandemic and measures to boost bilateral cooperation this weekend. This is the first high-level visit of a foreign leader to Viet Nam since the outbreak of the COVID-19 and it takes place in the context that both countries have put the pandemic under control.
As of July 6, Vietnam’s Ministry of Health’s tally of confirmed cases of COVID-19 remained at 355. In addition, 340 of the affected patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, no any community commission.
Also on Sunday, July 5, Viet Nam repatriates 310 citizens from Malaysia, reported by VGP News. The passengers include children aged under 18, the elderly, sick persons, pregnant women, and workers whose labor contracts had expired. This is the 34th repatriation flight since April 24, transporting about 9,230 passengers from foreign countries and territories, official data showed.
