Following the directions of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on allowing foreigners to work in Vietnam for a short time, the ministry has issued a medical guide on the matter. Accordingly, the visiting foreigners are required to take preventive measures such as wearing a face mask, washing hands with the sanitizer, and keeping a safe distance to prevent the spread of the pandemic, HanoiTimes reported.

The ministry has recommended ministries, ministerial-level agencies, governmental agencies, and local People's Committees to implement the Medical Guidance on Disease Prevention and Control for short-stay foreigners (less than 14 days).

The agencies also need to examine, monitor, and evaluate the implementation of anti-COVID-19 measures during the period of their stay in Vietnam and report implementation results to the Ministry of Health.

Vietnam started charging people coming from overseas for quarantine from September 1. But those coming for diplomatic missions are exempted from the fee. After 14 days since arrival, if a person tests negative for the novel coronavirus, they can remain in Vietnam without quarantining.

Prime Minister previously ordered the Transport Ministry to speed up the resumption of commercial flights to South Korea, Japan, and other countries considered safe.

Following discussions with aviation authorities of Japan and South Korea, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam has considered launching four round trips a week to each country.

Earlier, all Vietnamese nationals and foreigners entering Vietnam are required to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine from March 18. Foreigners who are experts, business executives, high-tech experts bearing papers certifying they are negative for Covid-19 issued by competent authorities of the country of origin and approved by Vietnam will be allowed entry and must be strictly isolated.
