No significant change in temperatures is likely over most parts of northwest, west and central India during the next 24 hours, Hindustan Times reported.

Under the influence of a western disturbance, many parts of the western Himalayan region will receive light rain and snow in the next 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD)’s weather forecast on Sunday.

The WD, as a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir, is likely to cause isolated rainfall/snowfall over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next 24 hours. A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect western Himalayan region from the night of March 2. Under its influence, isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall with thunderstorm/lighting is likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on March 3 and 4, the weather department said.

No significant change in temperatures is likely over most parts of northwest, west and central India during the next 24 hours and a fall in temperature by 2-4 degrees Celsius during the subsequent three days due to the effect of WDs is expected, it said. Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 15.6 degree C on Sunday, 3 degrees above normal.

5-Day Nationwide Weather Forecast

According to Weather.com, sunny weather and warmer-than-normal temperatures are expected across the country as a large high pressure dominates the region. Snowfall or rainfall is possible in several areas of the Trans and Western Himalayas on Wednesday and Thursday due to a feeble western disturbance. Rain or sleet is forecast in Arunachal Pradesh due to a local cyclonic circulation.

Daytime temperatures can exceed 40°C in several parts of the Konkan and Karanataka Coast, including Mumbai, due to calm wind condition and relatively strong shortwave radiation brought by sunlight. A maximum temperature of 40°C or more is possible over east and southeast of Mumbai in Maharashtra and around Puttur in Karnataka.

In the morning, low visibility condition due to fog formation is forecast in several parts of the Coromandel coast due to onshore calm and relatively humid wind. Foggy conditions will prevail across Puducherry and coastal Tamil Nadu on Tuesday and Wednesday, and also in northeastern coastal Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.

Temperatures will continue to be much higher than normal in the central part of the Himalayan Region, including Nepal, at least until the middle of March.

Regional Forecast

Isolated thunderstorms are possible over the Malabar Coast and southern part of the Konkan Coast. Maximum temperature of 40°C or more is possible over some plain areas inland of the Konkan Coast such as east & southeast of Mumbai (Kalyan, Mahad, Chiplun & Rajapur) in Maharashtra.

In the morning, dense fog is possible in much of Puducherry and coastal Tamil Nadu, and also in some parts of the southwestern edge of the Western Ghats and northeastern coastal Andhra Pradesh.
