Leaders of Vietnam have extended congratulations to their Chinese counterparts on 72nd National Day of China (October 1, 1949 - 2021).

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue sent congratulatory messages to General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Li Zhanshu.

The Vietnamese leaders expressed their belief that under the CPC’s leadership with General Secretary and President Xi at the core, the Chinese people will successfully fulfill the strategic goals and tasks set at the 19th National CPC Congress and take firm steps forward to realise the “Second Centenary Goal”, the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.

The Vietnamese Party, State, and people always attach importance to developing Vietnam - China relations in a healthy and stable manner, they affirmed.

Vietnam is ready to join China in enhancing equal and mutually beneficial cooperation, promoting the stable and sustainable development of the two countries’ comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, and contributing to regional and global peace, stability, and development, the leaders said.

On this occasion, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son extended congratulations to Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien also made a video clip sent to the Chinese people via the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi to congratulate them on the anniversary, according to VOV.

Dien said the Vietnamese Party, Government, and people attach great importance to developing stable, healthy and sustainable relations with the Chinese Party, Government and people.

The minister congratulated the Chinese Party, Government, and people on the great achievements they have obtained over the past 72 years.

He believed that the Chinese people will gain more victories, making important contributions to the overall development and prosperity of the region and the world.

Given complex developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, the minister suggested Vietnam and China step up cooperation and create strong impetus for economic recovery and development; and coordinate to effectively implement common perceptions reached by their senior Party and State leaders as well as those achieved at the recent 13th session of the Steering Committee for Vietnam - China Bilateral Cooperation.

The two nations need to promote economic and trade cooperation more sustainably in the time ahead, he said./.

Economic and trade cooperation remains a bright spot in the Vietnam-China relations. In the first eight months of this year, Vietnam's exports to China rose by 22% to $33.5 billion, 16% of its total exports, according to the General Department of Customs.

China remained Vietnam’s largest source of imports, mainly machinery and equipment, phones and components and raw materials for the textile industry, which grew by 47% to $72.5 billion.

Last year, Vietnam was China's sixth largest trading partner and its fifth largest export market.
