The parade on November 2nd, 1975 morning was filled with sheer excitement and endless happiness and would imprint forever in the hearts of all spectators. The parade marked the unification of the Northern and Southern Vietnam.
The event was attended by many heads of state, as well as leaders from Communist countries.

On September 2, 1985, Vietnam held a parade to celebrate the 40th successful August Revolution and National Independence Day.
Around 30,000 people had attended on that day. In the 1980s, eventhough Vietnam's economy faced a lot of difficulties, the Vietnamese Party and the Government still held such a great and historic parade.

Tens of thousands of people with banners and flags on hands lined up at Ba Dinh Square from dawn.
At 2 pm, Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence to establish the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the first worker-peasant state in Southeast Asia; organized the free nationwide general selection to elect the National Assembly and approved the first democratic Constitution of Vietnam.
On the Declaration of Independence, President Ho Chi Minh had declared to the world that "We, members of the Provisional Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, solemnly declare to the world that Vietnam has the right to be a free and independent country and in fact it is so already. The entire Vietnamese people are determined to mobilize all their physical and mental strength, to sacrifice their lives and property in order to safeguard their independence and liberty". |
