Overseas Vietnamese Look Towards The Homeland’s Sea And Islands

On June 25, Vu Thi Huynh Mai, Head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City, had a working session with Navy Region 5 in Kien Giang, Phu Quoc. She informed that the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese will promote activities towards the homeland’s seas and islands with concrete and practical actions.

At the meeting, delegates of the Delegation of the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese watched traditional films about the history of building, fighting, growing, and developing the Navy Region 5 Command. They also listened to the introduction of some key features of the Southwestern Sea region and the outstanding achievements of the Navy Region 5 in carrying out assigned political tasks.

Speaking at the meeting, Colonel Luong Quoc Anh expressed his pleasure in welcoming the delegation to visit the unit. According to him, "Journey of overseas Vietnamese to their homeland's islands and seas" is a practical activity, helping overseas Vietnamese better understand their homeland's seas and islands and the living, studying, and working conditions of officials, soldiers of the Navy Region 5 Command and the unit’s mission of protecting sea and island sovereignty.

The Deputy Commander of Navy Region 5 expressed his hope that after the journey to the Southwest Sea, the delegates will propagate the activities to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands by officers and soldiers. Thereby, it can help foster a love for the sea and islands and encourage officials, and the unit’s soldiers to complete their assigned tasks.

Vu Thi Huynh Mai thanked the thoughtful and warm welcome of the officers and soldiers of the Navy Region 5 Command for the Delegation. She said the trip aims to enhance responsibility and promote the patriotic spirit of people in Ho Chi Minh City, along with the construction and preservation of the Fatherland.

“We will continue to advise and propose to leaders of all levels and overseas Vietnamese to promote activities towards the homeland's seas and islands, encourage and motivate officers, soldiers, and forces to perform assigned tasks, contributing to firmly protecting maritime sovereignty”, she said.

On this occasion, the Delegation of the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese presented officers and soldiers of the Navy Region 5 Command with meaningful gifts.

From June 25 to 29, the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese organized a delegation of overseas Vietnamese to visit officers and soldiers of Navy Region 5 Command. The business trip has the theme "Journey of overseas Vietnamese to return to their homeland". 38 delegates representing intellectuals, businessmen, cultural and social charities, and overseas Vietnamese associations participated in the trip.

The delegation's 5-day itinerary has many practical and meaningful content. The delegation will participate in the activities of offering flowers and incense to the monument and memorial house of President Ho Chi Minh, visiting the Phu Quoc Prison Martyrs Memorial, presenting gifts to officers and soldiers of Brigade 127, Regiment 551, Battalion 563, and radar station 620.

Overseas Vietnamese delegates also visited, encouraged, and gave meaningful gifts to soldiers' children (Region 5 Kindergarten) under the Commander of Navy Region 5.
