Vietnam reports no new cases in the morning

One imported case of COVID-19 was detected in the past 12 hours to 6 pm March 28, who was put into quarantine after entry, according to the Health Ministry. The patient entered through the Ha Tien international border gate and is now hospitalized in the southern province of Kien Giang.

Meanwhile, on the morning of March 29, no case was reported. An additional 862 people were injected with the anti-COVID-19 vaccine on March 28 morning. Vaccination work is underway from March 8 to 27 in 19 provinces and centrally-run cities.

Hai Duong closes temporary hospital for COVID-19 treatment

The temporary hospital for COVID-19 treatment No 2 in northern Hai Duong province was dissolved on March 28, after the outbreak in the biggest hotspot of the latest coronavirus resurgence had been brought under control. The hospital, converted from the Hospital of the Hai Duong Medical Technical University in Hai Duong city, received the first COVID-19 patients on January 29.

During the past two months, it gave treatment to 376 patients, including 55 children, 36 others aged over 60, and 38 with underlying health conditions. The oldest is 92 years old and the youngest 21 days old. As many as 323 patients have recovered and been discharged from the hospital while the remaining 53 have been sent to other healthcare establishments in Hai Duong province for further treatment. Apart from specialized and personnel assistance from the Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital and 116 medical professionals of Hai Duong province, the university also mobilized nearly 900 of its employees and students to help with treatment, contact tracing, and testing.

As of 5 pm on March 27, Hai Duong province had recorded 726 cases of COVID-19 in the new outbreak, including 621 recoveries and no deaths. Only 144 people having direct contact with confirmed cases are being monitored at concentrated quarantine sites, and 186 others with close contact with them are under quarantine at home or accommodation facilities at present, according to the provincial center for disease control.

Bac Ninh detected three cases of re-positive with COVID-19

On the afternoon of March 28, Ms. To Thi Mai Hoa, Director of Bac Ninh Department of Health, said after detecting that three patients who had been cured of COVID-19 in Lam Thao commune, Luong Tai district, Bac Ninh province were re-positive with SARS-CoV-2 virus. The health sector of Bac Ninh province brought the patients back for treatment at Bac Ninh General Hospital.

All three patients are in Nhieu Dau village and Ngoc Quan village, Lam Thao commune, Luong Tai district, Bac Ninh province. After being cured, they still continue self-isolation. Therefore, they do not come into contact with the community.

Since January 28, Bac Ninh has discovered 9 cases of COVID-19, of which 5 cases were found in the community, 4 were imported, isolated upon entry. Bac Ninh has conducted tests of over 26,000 people related to COVID-19 patients or with pandemic-hit areas.

The national count increased to 2,591, of which 1,603 cases were domestic infections. Meanwhile, 2,308 COVID-19 patients have been given the all-clear by now, and the death toll remains at 35.

Among those still under treatment, 30 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once, 38 twice and 57 thrice. A total of 44,833 people are being quarantined nationwide, with 483 at hospitals, 18,412 at concentrated facilities, and 25,938 at their accommodations.

As of 16:00 on March 28, 2021, a total of 45,140 were vaccinated against COVID-19, all of them are medical staff directly treating COVID-19 patients, or responsible for COVID-19-relating tasks such as sampling, testing, tracing patients, members of the Steering Committee for pandemic prevention.
