Vietnam successfully develops two more sets of COVID-19 test kits
The difference between the 2 sets - VinKit SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR 1.0 and VinKit SARS-CoV-2 Multiplex RT-PCR lies in the implementation process, according to the VGP News.
While the VinKit SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR 1.0 kit is operated with three independent reactions to confirm the results, the VinKit SARS-CoV-2 Multiplex RT-PCR set combines three independent reactions into one to save biology products, time, and costs, while minimizing operational steps and technical errors.
The two test kits' development was based on the technological process of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC), approved by the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) in March.

Independent testing results from Vietnam's National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and the National Institute for Vaccines and Biologicals show that the two sets of Vinkit are stable, 100% accurate on clinical samples, equivalent to the diagnostic bio-products recommended by the WHO, reported Hanoi Times.
According to testing agencies, VinKit SARS-CoV-2 Multiplex RT-PCR not only achieves a 100% accuracy but also meets the criteria of clinical specificity, clinical sensitivity, analytical specificity (not cross-contaminated with other virus strains), equivalent to those recommended by WHO and CDC.
Dr. Nguyen Thanh Liem, Director of the Vinmec Research Institute of Stem Cell and Gene Technology said that the VinKit SARS-CoV-2 Multiplex RT-PCR kit is capable of integrating the “3 in 1” reaction, reducing two-thirds of the technical steps, increasing the testing speed by 2 times compared to other commercially available kits while ensuring high accuracy with low cost.
"We are currently urgently implementing the production process and procedures for issuing registration numbers for mass production," Liem said.
The SARS-CoV-2 virus testing kit is the second production project of Vingroup to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. In May 2020, VinGroup donated 2,400 Made -in- Vietnam ventilators to Russia and Ukraine. The given models Vsmart VFS-410 and VFS-510 - two "made in Vietnam" intrusion ventilators were completed and manufactured entirely from the Vingroup ecosystem with localization rated by over 70%. This was the Vingroup's gratitude expressed to the two countries taken the Group's development source from as well as close attachments to the Vietnam nation and many Viet generations.
Vingroup offered Russia 1,000 VFS-410 ventilators and 500 VFS-510 ventilators; offer Ukraine 600 VFS-410 ventilators and 300 VFS-510 ventilators. Earlier, in April 2020, Viet Nam’s test kit for COVID-19 diagnosis made by the Viet Nam Military Medical University and Viet A Company met all standards defined by the WHO. The kit was also certified as meeting European standards by the United Kingdom, whilst obtaining a Certificate of Free Sale (CFS) in Europe, added VGP News. |
