Vietnamese designer wins Asia-Pacific Face Mask Competition

Organized under the theme of "There's Strength In Memory" last November by Kingston and CSD, the competition attracted more than 3,100 entries from design enthusiasts from 12 countries across the Asia-Pacific region.
The competitors comprise top artists and designers from various fields including product, textile, visual art, and multimedia art; as well as illustrators, art students, and professors. The top 10 designs are divided into two categories. Five of them are of the "3-Colors" category, which limits designs to using only three colors.
The competition was first launched in November 2020, receiving over 3,100 entries from design experts and enthusiasts across the APAC region. A video aimed at introducing the designs submitted by the competition’s top 10 finalists attracted a total of 625,000 views. The winner claims a cash prize of US$5,000, a cup, and self-designed face masks, Vietnamnet cited.

Vietnamese designer Nguyen Dang Binh has finished first in the “3-Colors” category in the Kingston x CSD Asia-Pacific (APAC) Mask Design Competition.
His artwork features the theme “Doodling Paper” and impressed many viewers with its amusing style. Indeed, Binh capably illustrated his memories from the university through the different faces of his friends, sending a message to art lovers to continue with their passion, said VOV
Most notably, the challenge is split into two categories, including “3-Colors” and the “Unlimited Colors”, with Nguyen Dang Binh of Vietnam and Yman.S of Malaysia ultimately being honored in their respective categories.

Passionate for doodling and typography, Nguyen Dang Binh, a 29-year-old Banker from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, belongs to a family of artists, but his parents insisted him to choose a Finance job instead of following his heart. This never stopped him from being a die-hard artist at heart, and he spends his nights doodling on an iPad after work.
For him, all his memories have shaped his life and are pivotal to his existence. The time he spent during his college days with friends has always been etched in his memories, which were the happiest time as his spirit was untamable and dreamy. Therefore, he illustrated all his happy times through the interesting faces, said Kingston.
Each of the faces represents a different joyful experience in his college days. Through his design, he wants to be a voice for every art and doodle lover. he hopes to unite art lovers and encourage them to follow their passion and be a beacon of hope and inspiration for the rest of the world.
