Titchen born in 1913, is a retired shop worker in Birmingham, was admitted to hospital mid-March with suspected pneumonia but was given a clean bill of health by doctors this week.
“I feel very lucky that I’ve fought off this virus.”, The Guardian quoted Titchen as saying.
In a statement released by Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, Ms. Titchen said she could not "wait to see" her family.
The trust said it believed Ms. Titchen was Britain's oldest patient to overcome coronavirus, BBC reported.

Her granddaughter Alex Jones, 40, said Titchen had lived a very active life.
“She loved to dance, cycle and play golf,” Jones said. “She has always cooked for herself too, although she likes a cheeky McDonald’s every now and then. I haven’t told her they are closed”. ‘
Jones contributed her grandmother’s good health condition despite old age to Titchen’s physical activeness and independence. Jones also shared that Titchen could walk again one month after her hip operation last December.
“She really is amazing and I know all the family can’t wait to see her. She has quite a few fans!”, the grand-daughter told BBC.

Jones, 40, added: “The care she has received at the hospital has been brilliant and I can’t fault it. During her stay I was kept up to date constantly by the nurses looking after her which made me feel so happy.
“I want to thank the staff for all they have done for her during her stay.”
Kelly Smith, a nurse who looked after Titchen in hospital, added: “It’s been fantastic to see Connie recover. She is amazing and we’ve been doing our best to nurse her back to health.
“We were really pleased when she was given the all-clear. It’s nice to see patients leave our ward after having beaten this virus.”
Besides Titchen, there are also other elderly patients who beat the novel virus, which has provided a thin glimmer of hope in these otherwise dark times. On Tuesday, a 107-year-old Turkish woman was discharged from a hospital after one week of treatment. A 103-year-old woman who lives in Wuhan, China has recovered after just six days of treatment at a hospital, and safely returned home. Iranian Students News Agency also reported one 100-year-old coronavirus patient recovered from the virus. Earlier, a 102-year-old woman and 106-year-old man recovered from the deadly disease in Iran's Zanjan and Qom provinces, respectively. On March 18, another 103-year-old Iranian woman successfully recovered after contracting the deadly coronavirus. Italy, the United States, The Netherlands, Brazil, South Korea, India also reports numbers of aged COVID-19 patients who have won the deadly disease. The coronavirus which first emerged in China's Wuhan city has now spread to 210 countries and territories around the world and 2 international conveyances. The virus has thus killed 134,616 victims and take a heavy toll on 2,083,326 patients worldwide. |
