Overseas Vietnamese send aid package to flood-stricken locality in homeland

A ceremony attended by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs To Anh Dung, Secretary of the Party Committee of Phu Yen Province Pham Dai Duong, leaders of the Red Cross, leaders of the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the Office of Phu Yen Provincial Party Committee has been held to present Phu Yen Province, on Vietnam's south central coast, with aid raised by overseas Vietnamese to tackle damage caused by flooding in the central coastal province.
Speaking at the event, Pham Dai Duong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Phu Yen Province, expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for paying attention to Phu Yen through the years. He also thanked the overseas Vietnamese community for the financial aid package, stressing that the gift will be given to local residents whose lives have been disrupted by the natural disaster.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has been taking a heavy toll on the development of Phu Yen province as well as other localities in Vietnam and around the world. In such an unprecedented time, international cooperation must be promoted for mutual development,” Duong said. He also expressed his hope that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would continue to accompany Phu Yen in rapid and sustainable socio-economic development in the future.
