Leading medical experts across the country yesterday afternoon attended an online meeting to offer consultation to COVID-19 patients. Here, they expressed their willingness to participate in the consultation and treatment for the British Prime Minister if asked for assistance.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was admitted to Thomas’s Hospital, London on April 5, after days of coronavirus symptoms. Then, he was moved to intensive care on April 6 as his symptom worsened.
Answering the press after the meeting, a Vietnamese famous expert confidently said that so far Vietnam has not recorded any cases of coronavirus deaths, some patients who had intensive care have also been well recovered.
To date, 122 out of 249 COVID-19 patients in Vietnam have recovered.

An example of successful treatment can be listed as Mr. Li Ding – one of the first two cases of COVID-19 in Vietnam since the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan. He entered Noi Bai airport from Wuhan, China on Jan 13, then was confirmed to positive with COVID-19 on Jan 21.
Li was hospitalized in poor health conditions, unable to walk by himself and had many underlying medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, surgery for lung cancer, coronary artery disease with stent.
Public opinion at that time was very worried that he could hardly get over. However, just over 21 days of treatment by Vietnamese doctors, he recovered, was discharged and returned to his family.
In the second phase of its battle against COVID-19, Vietnam hospitals received 7 serious cases. All are elderly, suffering from many underlying diseases, hospitalized in critical conditions. Some of them have non-invasive mechanical ventilation, some are given oxygen.
Thanks to the dedicated care of the doctors, most of these patients are now getting better.
That half of cases of COVID-19 infection have recovered can be considered as a success of Vietnam in the fight against this pandemic.
That is also the reason why Vietnamese medical experts confidently expressed their willingness to consult and provide treatment support to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
