Regarding the adjustment of temporary visa regulations in the United States, on July 8, Ministry of Education and Training issued a proposal calling on all Vietnamese students in America to calm down and keep themselves updated with U.S. universities’ future notices in order to find an appropriate solution.

“In case international students must return home to study online, they need to register with the Vietnamese Embassy in the U.S.; Ministry of Education and Training and Ministry of Foreign Affairs will co-operate to report to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control and the Vietnamese Government and propose to organise flights to the U.S. to bring Vietnamese students back home” – Ministry of Education and Training stated.

Many international students are on the verge of being forced to leave the United States.

The Ministry of Education and Training apprised that the Department of International Cooperation has contacted the US Embassy in Vietnam for authenticated information and will have appropriate and timely support for overseas students.

Previously on July 6^th, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced that international students will not be allowed to stay in the US if they are enrolling in online courses this fall. Those who fail to comply would risk facing deportation.

This recent decision has badly hit many international students and universities in this country, including renowned ones like Harvard University, University of Massachusetts, etc.

Although the universities promised to take appropriate measures to protect their students’ rights, most students still feel worried and confused.

According to the Chronicle of Higher Education, about 60% of 1,100 universities in the U.S. will reopen normally this fall semester; 23% will offer mixed-methods courses; 8% will go entirely online, while the rest haven’t come to the final decision.
