Vietnam suspends top professional football league as new Covid-19 cases detected

According to VPF’s document, the postponement would last until further notice released. The country's top V-league and the First Division were supposed to play new rounds starting July 29, AFP reported.

Vietnam has won praise for its handling of the virus, registering just 420 infections and no deaths despite sharing along. The country’s authorities were quick to impose proper measures to shield the country after the virus emerged in neighboring China, with a rigorous state quarantine and the contact-tracing system put in place.

Two new cases of Covid-19 community transmission were confirmed in Da Nang and nearby Quang Ngai Province Sunday evening. The latest infections also raise the number of community transmissions in the past few days to four, the first of which broke Vietnam’s 99-day streak with no community transmission of the novel coronavirus.
