Trump accused of sexual assault by former model

A former model has accused Donald Trump of sexually assaulting her at the 1997 US Open tennis tournament, saying that the incident left her feeling “sick” and “violated”.

Amy Dorris alleged that the US president, who was 51 at the time, assaulted her outside the bathroom in his VIP box at the New York tournament. She was 24.

“He just shoved his tongue down my throat and I was pushing him off. And then that’s when his grip became tighter and his hands were very gropey and all over my butt, my breasts, my back, everything,” Ms Dorris, 48, told the newspaper.”

“I was in his grip, and I couldn’t get out of it,” she said. “I don’t know what you call that when you’re sticking your tongue just down someone’s throat. But I pushed it out with my teeth. I was pushing it. And I think I might have hurt his tongue.”

Mr Trump strongly denies the allegations, with his lawyers saying he never harassed, abused or behaved improperly toward the former model.

Ms Dorris’s account was corroborated by several people who she had told about the incident. Her mother and a friend both said the former model called them immediately after the alleged assault. Other friends and a therapist, in whom Ms Dorris confided in later years, also said the details reported by the newspaper matched what she had described to them at the time.

She also showed journalists her ticket to the US Open, as well as six photos showing her with the president over several days in New York, Independent reported.

French PM Jean Castex target of legal complaint over virus management

As reported by AFP, a French association of Covid-19 victims on Thursday filed a legal complaint against Prime Minister Jean Castex for alleged mishandling of the pandemic.

The Coronavirus Victims France association, which has 200 members, accuses the government of "playing it by ear" in its response to the crisis, lawyer Fabrice de Vizio told AFP.

Castex took over from Edouard Philippe as prime minister in July when the worst of the epidemic so far was over in France. But the past weeks have seen a worrying surge in new cases.

The complaint will be filed with the Court of the Republic (CJR), the only court in France authorised to deal with cases against government ministers over alleged offences committed in office.

Di Vizio said key shortcomings were the absence of screening at airports during the month of July, slowness in introducing saliva tests and the government's decision to delegate the responsibility for anti-Covid measures to regional prefects.

"This country is being managed, not governed," he said.

Castex's office had no comment on the allegations.

Vienna set to host 'this year's only international climate conference

This year's "only international climate conference" is to take place in Vienna, Austria, on September 17.

The Austrian World Climate Summit is an annual event — now in its fourth year — organised by the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative founded by Austrian-born actor and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Speakers at the one-day event will include Prince Charles, United Nations Secretary Antonio Guterres, primatologist Jane Goodall and the presidents of Croatia and Slovakia.

The event, originally scheduled to take place in May but postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, will include a mixture of analogue and digital elements.

The programme includes discussions on sustainable buildings, how to tackle urban pollution, green recovery plan and the European Green Deal.

Frans Timmermans, vice president of the European Commission, will join from Brussels to discuss the recovery of the EU economy and the EU's Green Deal which aims to transition the economy into a greener one in order for the bloc to be carbon-neutral by 2050.

As part of the plan, the bloc will mobilise €100 billion between 2021 and 2027 to help regions most affected by the move towards the green economy hopes to unlock €1 trillion in sustainable public and private investments over the next decade, according to EuroNews.

Gold price prediction: Prices slip but hold support

Gold prices moved lower as the dollar whipsawed as investors shunned the Fed’s decision to keep interest rates unchanged. The Fed said that they planned to keep interested rates near zero for the next 3-years which should help buoy the yellow metal.

Gold prices moved lower unable to gain momentum bouncing at support near the 50-day moving average at 1,932. Prices pushed back through short term support is seen near the 10-day moving average near 1,944. Target resistance is seen near the September highs at 1,979.

This occurs as the MACD line (the 12-day moving average minus the 26-day moving average) crosses above the MACD signal line (the 9-day moving average of the MACD line). Short-term momentum has turned positive as the fast stochastic generated a crossover buy signal. The relative strength index is moving sideways to higher which is a sign of accelerating positive momentum.
