Trump slams Biden over border 'crisis’, accused him of causing 'death and human tragedy'

President Biden said Sunday that he intends to travel to the southern border "at some point," telling reporters that he is in no rush to visit because "I know what's going in those facilities."

Biden’s immigration agenda includes a pathway to citizenship for 11 million undocumented immigrants, but the president last week urged migrants planning on embarking to the United States to hold off for the time being.

Trump took aim at the "pathetic, clueless performance" of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, writing that "Even someone of Mayorkas’ limited abilities should understand that if you provide Catch-and-Release to the world’s illegal aliens then the whole world will come."

"It’s clear they are engaged in a huge cover-up to hide just how bad things truly are," the statement continues. "The only way to end the Biden Border Crisis is for them to admit their total failure and adopt the profoundly effective, proven Trump policies."

Trump urged Biden to "immediately complete the wall, which can be done in a matter of weeks, Fox News reported.

Trump plans social media return with his own platform

Former President Donald Trump, suspended from Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites after the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, plans to launch his own platform in two to three months, one of his senior advisers told Fox News on Sunday.

Jason Miller, a spokesman for Trump's 2020 campaign, told the network that Trump would re-enter the social media space with a new platform of his own that would "completely redefine the game."

Miller provided no further details, and no comment was immediately available from officials with the Trump Organization.

Twitter last week said it would seek public input on when and how it should ban world leaders, saying it was reviewing policy and considering whether the leaders should be held to the same rules as other users.

Twitter, Facebook and others have been under scrutiny for the way they handle accounts of politicians and government officials after their ban of Trump for inciting violence, NBC News reported.

Putin pilots bumpy all-terrain rig on Siberian holiday

Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a holiday in Siberia with Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, piloted an all-terrain vehicle through thick woodland and traversed a swaying rope bridge, Kremlin footage showed.

Mr Putin routinely appears on state television participating in various outdoor pursuits to project the image of a healthy and robust leader capable of leading the country for many years to come.

His bare-chested exploits have conjured for many Russians an image of Mr Putin, 68, as an in-shape role model.

Video released by the Kremlin from inside an all-terrain vehicle showed the President at the wheel of a vehicle that pulled branches from overhanging trees as it barrelled over snow-laden tracks through dense forests of birch.

The two men were seen trudging through knee-deep snow and inspecting wooden ruins in a barren forest before taking careful steps across a rope bridge over a frozen river, according to Strait Times.

Heavy rains in Australia's east bring worst floods in 50 years

Heavy rains along Australia's east coast over the weekend have brought the worst flooding in half a century in some areas, authorities said on Sunday, forcing thousands to evacuate and damaging hundreds of houses.

New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the downpour across the state, Australia's most populous with 8 million people, was worse than initially expected, especially for low-lying areas in Sydney's northwest.

People in parts of Sydney's northwest were ordered to flee their houses in the middle of the night as fast-moving waters caused widespread destruction. Late on Sunday, about another 1,000 people were asked to evacuate, after Berejiklian said that some 4,000 people may be asked to leave their houses.

Television and social media footage showed fast-moving water unmooring houses, engulfing roads, breaking trees and damaging road infrastructure. Emergency services estimate the total number of damaged houses to be "in the hundreds".

Several major roads were closed across the state while many schools called off classes for Monday.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison in a Facebook post announced federal financial assistance for those affected.

Gold price forecast – prices consolidate as the dollar rises

Gold prices traded sideways, holding support but gaining little traction. Prices have had a hard time making headway as the dollar rallied and Treasury yield rose. During the week, US 10-year treasury yields increased nearly 9-basis points while the dollar rose 0.3%. Since gold is quoted in US dollars is generally has a difficult time climbing when the dollar is rising in value or treasury yields are increasing.

Gold prices moved higher but traded in a tight range climbing 0.7% for the week. Prices tested support near the 10-day moving average at 1,725. Target resistance is now seen near the 50-day moving average at 1,794. Additional support is seen near the June lows at 1,670. Short-term momentum is positive as the fast stochastic continues to accelerate higher. Medium-term momentum has turned positive as the MACD (moving average convergence divergence) index generated a crossover buy signal. This occurs as the MACD line (the 12-day moving average minus the 26-day moving average) crosses above the 9-day moving average of the MACD line. The MACD histogram is printing in positive territory with an upward sloping trajectory which points to higher prices, as reported by FX Empire.
