China’s new H-20 stealth bomber could hit Pearl Harbor

Just when things were not going well for the Pentagon, vis-a-vis China’s rapid military growth, US planners now have to rethink the entire scenario.

There’s a new kid on the block, and “he” is terrifying.

It involves China’s new H-20 stealth bomber, which is believed to have a range of up to 7,500 miles, the UK’s Sun reported.

Analysts believe that would easily bring Hawaii — 6,000 miles away — into reach in chilling echoes of the 1941 attack by the Japanese, making it a “truly intercontinental” threat.

According to the South China Morning Post, which cited a London-based Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies report, the state-of-the-art H-20 can carry a massive weapons payload of 45 tonnes and fly great distances without mid-air refuelling.

The 630 mph war machine is still under development, according to the leading think tank, but the Pentagon fears one day it will be able to target US overseas territories such as Guam, The Sun reported.

The PLAAF is designed to be a regional force capable of missions on the first island chain – ranging from the Kuril Islands to Japan and onto the Philippines, The Sun reported.

The H-20, by contrast, would give China a truly intercontinental power-projection capability,” the report said.

Plans for the H-20 were first announced in 2016 and the nuclear bomber may be ready to enter service in five years.

The “strategic bomber,” which was likely modelled after the Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit, was designed to penetrate anti-aircraft defences and drop devastating nuclear payloads.

Reports have said the H-20 will be able to deliver a payload of 45 tonnes, including nukes, and fire hypersonic cruise missiles.

Importantly, the Hong-20 will also complete the country’s so-called “nuclear triad. The New Zealand report also said the new supersonic stealth bomber could “double” China’s strike range, Asia Times reported.

Swedish royal couple tests positive for COVID-19

Accrording to AA, Sweden’s Prince Carl Philip and his wife Princess Sofia have tested positive for coronavirus, the Swedish royal court said on Thursday.

Carl Philip, the 41-year-old son of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, and Sofia, 35, “have light flu symptoms” and are in quarantine at their home in the capital Stockholm, the statement said.

It added that the king, queen, the prince’s older sister Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel would be tested during the day.

Sweden was one of the few countries that did not introduce strict lockdown measures, and instead relied on public recommendations to stem the spread of the virus. But after seeing a new surge of cases, it announced restrictions.

Public gatherings are now capped at eight people — down from 50, and serving of alcoholic beverages is prohibited between 10 p.m. and 11 a.m nationwide.

The health agency has, meanwhile, allowed local authorities to impose visiting bans on retirement homes.

Stricter general guidelines are also in force in different regions.

Paris police officers suspended over beating of Black man

A Black man beaten up by several French police officers said he is seeking justice after the publication of videos showing officers repeatedly punching him, using a truncheon and tear gas against him for no apparent reason.

French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin ordered the officers involved in the case suspended.

The incident came as President Emmanuel Macron’s government is pushing a new bill that restricts the ability to film police, which has prompted protests from civil liberties groups and journalists concerned that it would allow police brutality to go undiscovered and unpunished.

Videos first published on Thursday by French news website Loopsider show the violent arrest of a music producer, Michel Zecler, in the 17th arrondissement or district of the French capital on Saturday.

The video images shows three officers following Zecler inside his music studio, where they can be seen repeatedly punching him and beating him with a truncheon.

Zecler told the Associated Press he feels “good” now that “the truth is out.”

His lawyer, Hafida El Ali, said: “He asked them what they wanted, if they wanted to check his identity. ... They didn't stop beating him, the video of the violence (inside the studio) lasts for 12 minutes.” El Ali said that nine others who were recording music in the studio basement were also beaten.

Zecler was taken into custody.

It’s the second such police brutality investigation in Paris this week prompted by video footage. The government ordered an internal police investigation on Tuesday after police officers were filmed tossing migrants out of tents and intentionally tripping one while evacuating a protest camp.

That same day, France’s lower house of parliament approved a draft law meant to strengthen local police and provide greater protection to all officers. It notably makes it a crime to publish images of officers with intent to cause them harm. The bill, which enjoys public support after recent terrorist attacks, will now go to the Senate, NBC News reported.

Gold price forecast – gold markets hanging around 200 EMA

Gold has rallied slightly on Thursday, but Thursday is a major holiday in the United States, so it would have been thin electronic trading.

Gold markets have rallied a bit during the trading session during the electronic session, but liquidity would have been a serious problem as Americans were celebrating Thanksgiving, thereby huge portions of players were even in the market. That being said, gold is sitting at the 200 day EMA, which of course attracts a lot of longer-term attention. Furthermore, the $1800 level was an area where we broke out from previously, but we have pulled back to that area now to finally test it again to see if “market memory” comes into play.

At this point, if we rally from there it is likely that the market goes looking towards the $1850 level, possibly even further. On the other hand, if we were to turn around and close significantly below the 200 day EMA, that could be very negative for the gold market, perhaps opening up a move down to the $1700 level. Ultimately, this is a market that is more of a longer-term investment, so you should be cautious about putting a lot of money into the market, FX Empire reported.
